The Bethany House

Uganda is a beautiful nation full of breathtaking people and lavished natural resources. Unfortunately these people have been ravaged by evil dictatorship, civil war and the deadly AIDS epidemic. An estimated 2.4 million children have been orphaned and left abandoned and destitute. This nation has stood against all odds and the Ugandan people are fervently working to give their children a better future. Children are faced with the day to day fear of deadly diseases, savage wars, poverty and hunger.  These orphaned children face each day with no parents or family to care for them and no one to help give them the basic necessities of life.

The dream of every child in Uganda is to go to boarding school to receive a strong education. When Madonna gave a child the opportunity to have their voice heard by the world this small boy said, “please just help us to forget that we are orphans.”  Ugandans are resilient and hold on to the dream of a bright future, but they need our help. By the minute babies are orphaned and left for dead in storm drains, trash bins and along the side of walking trails. As the world begins to turn their eyes to the continent of Africa someone may think the need is too great and what difference could one person make?

Non-profit organizations are overran with children in need, the government is doing all that they can although it is still not enough. We must each begin to think of the people of Africa no longer as strangers in a distant land far from us but we must begin to think of them as our neighbors. Must also begin to realize that one person can make a difference!  YOU can be the difference!
